Gender Affirmation Services

Many trans and gender diverse people face a range of barriers and challenges that can impact their ability to participate in important activities (‘occupations’), including discrimination, social isolation, and physical or mental health concerns.

Occupational Therapists work with clients through a holistic, collaborative approach to support them to self-reflect, problem-solve, and integrate new skills/strategies into their daily routines. This can empower someone to affirm their gender in a safe and meaningful way.

What We Offer

An Occupational Therapist can help you to:

  • Explore your identity in a non-judgmental space
  • Safely engage in activities that support your gender expression (e.g., tucking, binding, use of prosthetics, make-up)
  • Understand social, medical, and legal affirmation processes
  • Develop self-advocacy skills
  • Address social, dating, or intimacy issues, including sexual health education
  • Develop strategies to cope with mental health challenges
  • Manage chronic health conditions
  • Connect with community groups
  • Prepare for gender-affirming medical procedures including support with the recovery process

We offer clinic, home, or community-based services to people of all ages.
