Occupational Therapists play a vital role in assisting individuals to understand and determine the most suitable housing needs. When disability impacts an individual’s function, it may be determined that supported housing is required. Funding bodies rely on assessment and reporting conducted by occupational therapists to understand the individual’s function, support and environmental needs that can determine a suitable housing option. Funding bodies will review housing assessment reports when determining and allocating suitable funds.
Our approach to housing assessment is one of collaboration. We work with the individual and their support network to gain an understanding of their functional and support needs. Thorough analysis and assessment of current and former housing is obtained to guide our recommendations.
